Blue Morpho Butterfly
The Blue Morpho Butterly is found in Central and South America. They are one of the bigger butterflies with a wingspan of 5-8 inches. They mainly live in shrubs and other low lying areas. These butterflies don't care for flower nectar, they prefer rotting fruit or tree sap. Their coloring is a mix of blue and green iridescence and they are truly beautiful. The entire lifespan of a Morpho from egg to death is about 137 days although only about one month of that is as an adult.
Monarch Butterfly
The Monarch is often called the Milkweed Butterfly because that is what they eat. This is also their defense mechanism. The milkweed is poisonous to many predators so they avoid the Monarch. A Monarch's wingspan is up to 4 inches and they are a tawny orange color with black veins and white spots. Monarchs are mainly found in North America but can also be seen in Bermuda and New Zealand.
